Community Matters – Green Spaces

Green Synergy is proud to be supported by the National Grid Community Matters Green Spaces Fund which is supporting us to develop a Willow and Hazel Grove on Hillside garden.

The project has enabled the development a new and improved green space by creating a wildlife-rich new habitat from a brown field site area. Hillside Garden currently lacks native species such as willows, birch and hazel so the proposed project would site clear and create a new coppice grove and hedgerow along the east side of the garden and hence also creating an island for native wildlife, insects and fauna to thrive with a steppingstone for native species with a new coppice grove for wildlife.

Ali Talbot CEO, Green Synergy said “The grant from the Community Matter Green Spaces Fund will make a significant difference to enabling Green Synergy to create a Wildlife Coppice Grove. The project is enabling us to develop a new coppice grove and hedgerow along our east border to improve the biodiversity of the garden and increase native species such as willows, birch and hazel and create a steppingstone for native species with a new coppice grove for wildlife. We also have the opportunity to then harvest the wood for our garden and craft activities in our projects. This would not be possible with this grant and we would like to say a huge thank you to National Grid Electricity Distribution for their valued support with this project. ”
