Planting Hope Project

Planting Hope has been just that, a chance for men across Lincolnshire to reconnect, rebuild confidence and quite literally grow something positive. Delivered by Green Synergy, the project reached all seven Lincolnshire districts and supported 77 men, many of whom were facing isolation, poor mental health, or barriers to accessing support.

Through hands-on, nature-based activities from woodworking to indoor terrariums, Planting Hope created a welcoming space to try new things and meet others. For some, simply turning up was a huge first step, but over time those early nerves gave way to a sense of community belonging and a whole lot of laughter.

The impact has been clear. An incredible 95% of men reported the same or higher life satisfaction and sense of worth, while 92% reported the same or higher happiness and reduced anxiety. Self-reflection showed 95% felt more confident, 91% more resilient, 91% experienced improved wellbeing, and 95% felt more connected to others.

What really stood out was the sense of connection. Men supported each other, with older participants often mentoring younger ones, helping build confidence and reduce social anxiety. Perhaps most importantly, the impact hasn’t stopped at the end of the sessions. Many participants continue to meet, share skills and support one another, creating a lasting ripple effect of wellbeing, confidence and community across Lincolnshire.
