Lincoln Green Influencers
Our Green Synergy Green Influencers project aims to support young people (10-14 year olds), in deprived urban areas, create deep, lasting and meaningful connections with the natural environment while learning and building skills that will help them to contribute to their local community through youth-led environmental action.
The Green Influencers project is kindly funded by the #iwill Fund. The National Lottery Community Fund and the Department of Culture, Media & Sport who have each invested £25 million seed funding to create the #iwill Fund. The Ernest Cook Trust is acting as a match funder and awarding grants on behalf of the #iwill Fund.
The #iwill Fund has been made possible thanks to £50 million joint investment from The National Lottery Community Fund and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) to support young people to access high quality social action opportunities. The #iwill Fund brings together a group of organisations who all contribute funding to embed meaningful social action into the lives of young people.

Social action involves activities such as campaigning, fundraising and volunteering, all of which enable young people to make a positive difference in their communities as well as develop their own skills and knowledge.
The #iwill Fund supports the aims of the #iwill campaign – to make involvement in social action a part of life for young people, by recognising the benefit for both young people and their communities.
By bringing together funders from across different sectors and by making sure that young people have a say in where the funding goes – the #iwill Fund is taking a collaborative approach.

Green Synergy has delivered 9 Green Influencer Groups throughout the city of Lincoln since the beginning of our funding in 2021. The groups ranged from other charities such as The Sea Cadets and Monks Abbey Scouts to Schools such as The Lincoln Bishop King Church Of England Primary School to independently run youth groups such as the children’s summer programme as St Giles Church.
Each group has been able to decide what they did for their project, we as Green Mentors go to these groups to facilitate and grow their ideas into realities so that they can build a project they are passionate about and can carry on themselves once our allotted sessions are over. The hope of these project is to inspire and motivate young people to get into action, it builds their confidence and shows them how they can make a difference to the environment and community around them.
