About our Project
Green Shoots of Wellness II is a continuation of our Green’s Synergy men’s mental health project to support people who may be struggling. The project is funded for one year by the Suicide Prevention in Lincolnshire -Wave 4 Fund managed by Shine Lincolnshire.
Green Synergy’s Green Shoots of Wellness II project will focus on supporting men aged 18+ living in Lincoln and Lincolnshire and in particular living in the most under-served communities in Lincoln. the activities will de delivered on our Hillside Community Garden is situated in one of the most deprived wards in Lincoln – the Abbey Ward.
Our programme aims to support those men who are dealing with mental health issues and people with physical long-term conditions and disabilities and their carers.
The project will deliver a programme of weekly gardening and horticulture sessions in the peaceful surrounding of our Hillside Community Garden behind the Lincoln County Hospital in the Tower Estate each Wednesday afternoon between 1pm to 3pm from March 2024.
We aim to work with 4 groups of men through the year in group format. People who are referred will be introduced to all our projects and given opportunity to decide which they would like to join. The team will provide weekly co-facilitated sessions offering a flexible package of:
- Gardening and Environmental skills and activities
- Conversation Cafe – to meet and speak with peers.
- Eco Wellness tools – build a wellness tool-box for mental, emotional and physical wellbeing and also discuss male mental health; the issues, challenges and stigma. This would include talking about suicidal feelings and self-harm to increase understanding and strategies to manage them.
